Alexander Mäkelä is Chief Policy Officer atCarbon Gap, leading the organization's European and global carbon removalpolicy advocacy. He previously shaped industrial decarbonization and carbon managementstrategies in McKinsey’s Sustainability Practice and recently co-founded theNordic Carbon Removal Association, dedicated to accelerating CDR policy andmarket readiness across the Nordic region.
His experience spans digital policy atFacebook, strategic civil society advocacy with The Good Lobby, and leadingsocial impact initiatives, including refugee housing commissioned by theSwedish government.
Alexander is a Fulbright Scholar with an MBAfrom Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and holds aMaster's in European Public Policy Analysis from the College of Europe.
