
Alexander Mäkelä is Chief Policy Officer atCarbon Gap, leading the organization's European and global carbon removal policy advocacy. He previously shaped industrial decarbonization and carbon management strategies in McKinsey’s Sustainability Practice and recently co-founded theNordic Carbon Removal Association, dedicated to accelerating CDR policy and market readiness across the Nordic region.
His experience spans digital policy at Facebook, strategic civil society advocacy with The Good Lobby, and leading social impact initiatives, including refugee housing commissioned by the Swedish government.
Alexander is a Fulbright Scholar with an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and holds a Master's in European Public Policy Analysis from the College of Europe.
