
Born in 1970, Armel SIMONDIN majored in civil engineering at l’Ecole Centrale de Lyon, and earned his ENSPM post graduate degree in economics and corporate management applied to the petroleum industry at the IFP School, France. Following two years working as a Field Engineer for McDermott International in Rotterdam, Armel joined Total in 1997 as Drilling Supervisor with assignments in UAE, Nigeria and Venezuela. During the next 15 years he held various positions including Ultra Deep Water R&D Project Manager, Head of Well Engineering in Brunei and finally Drilling Manager in Indonesia and Angola.
His career with Perenco started in 2011 as a Drilling Operations Manager in Paris, before becoming Group Drilling Manager. Armel transferred to the Cameroon subsidiary where he became General Manager in 2021.
Since April 2024 he has been working in London as CEO of Perenco.
