David Phillips

David is based in London, UK, and is Svante’s VP of Corporate Development. He oversees Svante’s financial planning and development, interfaces with the capital markets and contributes to the group’s engagements with key partners in Europe

Before joining Svante in January 2025, David served as Head of Capital Markets at Aker Carbon Capture, engaging with financial stakeholdersand corporate partners across the CCUS value chain. He also contributed to corporate strategy and development, including the major joint venture with SLB finalized in 2024.

David joined Aker Carbon Capture in August 2021 after nearlytwo decades in investment research at leading investment banks in London and New York. From 2014 to 2016, he was Head of Industry and Investor Relations at Aker Solutions. In finance, he focused initially on the chemicals sector before specializing in the global energy industry from 2006, where his team earned high industry rankings. David’s most recent role in finance was as Head of Equity Research for Europe at HSBC in London (2018-2021).

David holds an MA in Chemistry from the University of Oxford and a PhD from the University of Cambridge. His doctoral research, supported by a major Swiss chemical company, explored the synthesis of self-assembling organic ‘building blocks’ in supramolecular chemistry.
