Joe is the Net Zero Humber Professor of Industrial Decarbonisation, trustee of the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board, specialist advisor to Iconsys and Chair of the Humber Industrial Decarbonisation Network.
He is an experienced Chair and Non-Executive Director working across a range of energy related sectors in the UK and internationally and has extensive Board governance experience in a range academic, training, public and private sector organisations.
Joe is adept at developing strategic relationships with regulators, stakeholders, researchers, senior market and public service leaders. He is a member of the National Energy System Operator Gas Advisory Council, is passionate about the communication of science specifically on the relationship between electrons and molecules and the need to maximise UK Content in the development of infrastructure projects.
Joe has published and spoken extensively on the energy transition specifically on the relationship between heat, power, hydrogen, CCUS and Bioenergy and is particularly driven by the opportunities energy transition offers UK companies.
During his career has secured considerable research, development and consultancy income. Recent examples include Co-Investigator UKRI NW Industrial Cluster Plan; Co-Investigator UKRI Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre; Co-Investigator on the UKRI Humber/Tees Local Innovation Partnership Fund initiative.
