Prof Stuart Haszeldine is a geologist and environmental scientist at The University ofEdinburgh. With 45 years' experience working with subsurface information fromhydrocarbon extraction to waste disposal, Stuart is the world’s first Professorof Carbon Capture and Storage.

Stuart is Co-Directorof the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute and Director of Scottish CarbonCapture and Storage - the largest CCS research group in the UK, and one of thekey driving forces behind establishing CCS as a new industry in the UK, EU andworldwide.

Stuart has over 35years research experience in energy and environment; innovating new approachesto oil and gas extraction, radioactive waste disposal, carbon capture andstorage, and biochar in soils. Stuart provides advice to both UK and Scottishgovernments.

He was elected FRSE in 2002, awarded the Geological Society William Smith Medal in2011 and in 2012 was appointed OBE for services to climate change technologies
